He has been poulticed and connections are hopeful that this will just prove a minor irritant and not force him to miss the Melbourne Cup.
Currently a $26 chance, his Newmarket-based handler was hoping that he would be able to go one better than his stablemate, crowd favourite Red Cadeaux, who finished second for the same owner/trainer connections in three Cups. The horse is due to be ridden in the Cup by Damien Oliver.
Several international horses based at Werribee have been injured this year, although it would appear to be bad luck more than anything to do with the Werribee set up.
On Wednesday evening another Werribee-based English galloper, Caulfield Cup fourth Duretto, was scratched after it was confirmed he had suffered a stress fracture.
Godolphin galloper Hamada had to be euthanised after sustaining a serious leg injury and another Charlie Appleby horse, Emotionless, also suffered a pelvis injury that ruled him out of the spring.
