A woman was hospitalised and a man arrested after a hit-run in Melbourne’s east overnight.

The woman was driving a blue Honda CR-V along Midhurst Road in Croydon about 11pm on Wednesday when she was struck by a silver Subaru Forester. The driver of the damaged Subaru fled and the 30-year-old woman was trapped in the car until emergency crews arrived and managed to free her and take her to hospital with non-life threatening leg injuries.

A 25-year-old Heathmont man was arrested near the crash site about 12.30am. He is currently in hospital under police guard with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating whether there was anyone else in the Subaru at the time of the collision. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
