Two senior Victoria Police officers have been charged with a total of 23 offences after an investigation into alleged fraud involving vacant properties.

The state corruption watchdog charged the inspector and sergeant on Thursday with a range of offences including perjury, misconduct in public office, obtaining property by deception and theft.

The charges follow an investigation by the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission into allegations a police officer fraudulently took possession of a number of vacant properties.

The inspector has been charged with perjury, making a statement that is false or misleading and failing to produce a document.

The sergeant is charged with 20 offences including misconduct in public office, obtaining property by deception, and theft.

The sergeant faces Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 26 while the inspector is set to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on February 5.
