Actor recalls Rush making 'boob-squeezing gesture' towards co-star

A young male co-star who appeared with Geoffrey Rush in a Sydney Theatre Company production has told the Federal Court the Oscar-winning actor made a jokey “boob-squeezing gesture” above a female co-star’s body during rehearsals and “cupped” her breast on stage during a performance.
Mr Rush, 67, is suing Rupert Murdoch’s Nationwide News for defamation over two news stories and a newsagent poster alleging “inappropriate behaviour” towards a cast member during the STC production of King Lear. Mr Rush, who performed the lead role, vehemently denies the claims.
His accuser was not named in the stories but was later revealed to be Eryn Jean Norvill, who played King Lear’s daughter Cordelia. She did not speak to the Telegraph for its stories.
Mark Leonard Winter, who played Edgar in King Lear, gave evidence on Thursday that he witnessed Mr Rush “doing a bit of a skit over EJ [Eryn Jean]” during rehearsals of a scene in which Lear grieves over the corpse of Cordelia.
