But Mr Poulakis’s son, Alex, was married in Melbourne on May 26 at the Park Hyatt, with a reception later held at The Glasshouse function room at Olympic Park.


When contacted by The Age, the wealthy retailer insisted there had been a “blessing” of the couple in Kyparissi on July 8.


Mr Poulakis refused to discuss his 60th birthday celebrations and hung up. He did not respond to further questions.


In court last month, police alleged that on January 26 Mr Poulakis smothered his mother’s face with a pillow and assaulted his father before smashing windows, an entertainment unit and coffee table in their home.
