It says the biggest issue for Telstra is whether it can meet its 2019 guidance given it has “consistently underestimated its competitive intensity if the market”.


To be fair, the mobile market has become difficult to predict since TPG announced it would gatecrash the industry with limited time free data plans.


The extent to which other players will need to respond with better deals will play out over the coming year.


Telstra this week announced a totally new management line up – one that will be in charge of delivering a strategic overhaul, a huge cut in the company’s cost base and a streamlined set of mobile plans, among other things.


It is a difficult time for Telstra whose re-rating in the equities market has made it one of the worst performing stocks this year.
