Alex Fasolo returns for the Blues

Carlton have turned to goalkicking forward Alex Fasolo in an attempt to lift them over the line against Essendon at the MCG on Sunday.

The former Magpie has not played since round two after being a surprise inclusion in round one, kicking a goal in each game before being banished to the VFL.

However with Kade Simpson pulling up sore, Dale Thomas serving a club-imposed suspension and Mitch McGovern out with an ankle injury the Blues decided to give Fasolo a second chance.

Darcy Lang will play his first game for the season after an injury riddled stint at the Blues who recruited him from Geelong while young midfielder Will Setterfield returns after being in and out in recent weeks.

The Blues will have a big-bodied midfield on Sunday with Setterfield joining Patrick Cripps and Matt Kennedy in the midfield.
