It is understood the man found himself in trouble after diving offshore about midday. He was rushed to shore in a boat where he was met by police and St John Ambulance emergency crews who attempted to resuscitate him. The man was then rushed to hospital. A hospital spokeswoman did not comment on his condition, but a spokesman for St John Ambulance said paramedics were working to maintain a pulse when he arrived at hospital.
