Kiwi referee Paul Williams is one of the best but perhaps in this case he was simply too sympathetic to Rona, who was clearly caught out by Koroibete’s change of direction.

It’s a tough call and everyone understands the desire to keep 15 men on the paddock at all times to let the teams and not the referees decide the outcome.

However, the question has to be asked: did Koroibete and the Rebels get enough ‘reward’ for their play with a penalty only?

Koroibete, meanwhile, continues to thrill. We made the Digby Ioane comparison a few weeks back and his burst from the ruck that set up Will Genia’s try had Reds 2011 written all over it.
