Anthony Albanese names Bill Shorten in his new look Labor team

Opposition leader Anthony Albanese unveiled the line-up following a week of factional tit-for-tat that saw former NSW premier Keneally parachuted to deputy Senate leader and Mr Chalmers replace Mr Bowen as shadow treasurer.


Mr Albanese was declared leader last week in a bloodless contest, avoiding a process that would have involved rank-and-file voters after rival contenders Tanya Plibersek, Mr Chalmers and Mr Bowen withdrew.


The new leader said he would embark on a “listening tour” with his new team to determine how they lost a federal election after commentators and opinion polls pegged them for victory.


Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s ministry, which included Australia’s first Aboriginal Minister for Indigenous Australians,  was sworn in on Wednesday.
