Like so many in Super Rugby, 2019 could be a career-changing season for Melbourne Rebels forward Matt Philip.

But with the season just over two weeks away, Philip is solely focused on putting in a big performance when the Rebels host Queensland Reds in a trial match at Ballarat’s Mars Stadium on Friday night.

The Rebels have named a strong starting side with star signings Quade Cooper, Luke Jones and Isi Naisarani all to start and key returning players such as  Philip, Anaru Rangi and Tom English also in the line-up.

Philip, who re-signed for two more seasons earlier this week, dreams of seeing the Rebels win the Super Rugby title and he is also in the running for the Wallabies for the Rugby World Cup in Japan later this year.
