Trump won support from large swathes of the evangelical community during his presidential campaign. Since taking office, he has appointed two supreme court judges, securing a conservative majority on the bench a development that could shape American life for decades to come.


His drive to appoint conservative judges, as well as his pro-life stance on abortion, is seen as a critical factor behind the support he has enjoyed from some evangelicals.


Sanders also criticised Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the house of representatives, for saying a wall along the US-Mexico border would be “immoral”.
