Suspicious device on the Gold Coast sparks evacuation

An emergency evacuation on the Gold Coast caused by a suspicious device outside a residence on the Gold Coast has been revoked.


Police declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act about 11.30am on Saturday.


An exclusion zone was set up encompassing Hollywell Road down to Cawthray Street at Biggera Waters for about 30 minutes.


Specialist police wre in attendance and ambulance were on stand-by.


A police spokesman could not confirm what the device was.
