Ready to soar: Arcadia Queen will target the Golden Eagle under the care of Chris WallerCredit:AAP
“He rides her in her work and is a jockey I really respect. He said she is not ready for the blinkers,” Waller said. “In time she will, but just not quite yet. We did think about it, but she is learning her trade. I think the 2200m and the strong pressure of a group I race will help her.”
Meanwhile, Waller will welcome a trio of horses from Western Australia’s biggest owner, Bob Peters, to target the spring carnival, including Kingston Town Stakes winner Arcadia Queen.
Peters has decided to base Arcadia Queen in Sydney and set her on a Golden Eagle campaign rather than targeting the Cox Plate and could give her an opportunity in the Everest if a slot-holder is interested.
“Obviously The Golden Eagle is two weeks after The Everest, and if you add the stakes money that’s available for those two races, I have an obligation as a director of a company to act in the best interests of the company at all times,” Peters said on Perth radio.
