Grundy limped off with a sore ankle just before half-time having engaged in an engrossing battle with Fremantle’s Rory Lobb. At half-time the honours were even between the pair, although Lobb kicked a goal when Grundy fell into his back in a marking contest near goal. Their ascendancy determined which team had control of the game, with Collingwood’s runners coming alive when Grundy began to win contests.
