Wallabies' woes compounded as Maddocks sent back to Australia

The Wallabies’ woes have gone from bad to worse, with utility back Jack Maddocks set to fly back to Sydney after tearing ligaments in his left hand.


Fairfax Media understands Maddocks is on a flight to Australia and won’t take part in next weekend’s crucial match against Argentina.

The 21-year-old, who came off the bench in Australia’s 23-12 loss to the Springboks in Port Elizabeth, is understood to have broken his finger at training on Tuesday in South Africa but pushed through the pain to get on the park.


Unfortunately for the Wallabies, Maddocks hurt himself even more during the match. A decision was made shortly after the game by Wallabies officials to send him back to Sydney rather than finish the Rugby Championship.
