On Thursday, the gods of cool celebrity gossip (that’s gossip about cool celebrities, not “cool” gossip about ordinary celebrities) gifted us this beauty: “Rashida Jones gave birth to her first child months ago!“

Turns out the beloved Parks and Recreation actress, 42, had a baby boy with her boyfriend, musician Ezra Koenig, 34, of Vampire Weekend. This is notable for a number of reasons.


Firstly, no one, not even the internet, knew these two were officially dating, besides a couple of paparazzi shots taken at a Knicks game a couple of years ago. “That’s two photos, how much more proof do you need?” you might argue. Hey, I’m poking you sternly in the forehead right now, can you feel it?

Secondly, as far as delightful celebrity families go, these guys just shot to the top of the list. Rashida Jones, daughter of Quincy and Twin Peaks‘ Norma, sister of that woman who was engaged to Tupac, and Ezra Koenig, poet laureate of floppy-haired indie dorks the world over, joining DNA? Baby Isaiah Jones Koenig might just be the messiah, who knows. I, at least, expect a downtempo rap album by the time he’s 17, anyway.

The Australia batsman has been looking to seek the sort of perspective and self-knowledge that will prevent him from following the kind of instructions issued to him by David Warner in the Cape Town dressing room. Bancroft spoke in Perth on Saturday ahead of his return to cricket via Twenty20 and 50-over appearances in the Northern Territory, where he will also endeavour to work closely in developing local talent.
