Gibson calls for clarity from World Rugby after Folau suspension

Asked whether Folau might be hesitant around aerial contests from now on, Gibson said: “I’m sure that comes into it now, he’s got a record”.

The Waratahs will welcome Folau back for their penultimate match of the regular season against the Sunwolves in Sydney on Saturday.

If the Rebels lose to the Reds, the Waratahs have a chance to guarantee themselves top spot of the Australian conference.

“It certainly puts us in a good position because we’ve got to keep moving forward and accumulating points and try and finish as high up the ladder as possible,” Gibson said. “It is nice to finish with two home games and that hopefully that energises the state and gets the NSW rugby public behind us.

“Given our week and preparation, to come and to fight against a team that played bloody well, it is very pleasing. You’ve got to grind it out and find a way. We did that.”
