Bancroft opened the batting for the Desert Blaze team at Marrara Oval in Darwin on a sunny, 32C day in the Top End.

He was out driving to cover on his third ball off the bowling of Southern Storm pacemen Blade Baxter.

Bancroft was suspended for nine months for his role in the infamous ball- tampering incident against South Africa at Newlands in March, while captain Steve Smith and David Warner were banned for 12 months.

Warner will play two matches this month in the Strike League, which features numerous first-class players including Alex Ross and Kelvin Smith.
