A clean slate is on the cards for the scandal-ridden Ipswich City Council, with the future of the council put firmly into the hands of residents.

Interim administrator Greg Chemello, appointed in the wake of scandal and alleged corruption that embroiled former mayors Paul Pisasale and Andrew Antoniolli, said the community could decide how it want to be represented into the future.

Mr Chemello on Friday announced a month-long consultation process to determine the future shape of the council ahead of the March 2020 council elections.

“The best thing for us is to ask the people, so what this month is about is an open and honest discussion with the residents of this city about how they would like their local government to be constituted,” Mr Chemello said.
