After being known as the TAC Cup for the last 27 years, the AFL have confirmed that its long-standing under-18 competition will be replaced by the NAB League in season 2019.

The revamp will see the return of a fully-fledged Tasmanian team to the fold called the Devils after the Tassie Mariners’ seven-year stint ended in 2002.

The new-look competition will also see the Brisbane Lions academy, Gold Coast Suns academy, Sydney Swans academy, GWS Giants academy and NT Thunder feature in matches in a five-week period from late March to early May in the lead-up to the under-18 championships.

The NAB League will also aim to work to help its players off-field with a focus to provide further support in education, wellbeing, high performance and coaching.
