A man has been arrested after a stand-off with police following the death of a 45-year-old man in Sydney’s north-west on Thursday evening.

Emergency services found the 45-year-old man in the driveway of a unit on Gladstone Street in North Parramatta about 8.50pm, suffering stab wounds to his back and neck.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command attempted to revive him but were unable to do so.

At 10pm, police attempted to speak to a 35-year-old man who was inside a unit on the same street. Police alleged the man refused to exit the property but after several hours of negotiations, he was arrested.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital under police guard for treatment of an injury he received before police arrived.

Investigations into the incident continue. Police would like to speak with any witnesses or anyone who may have information that could assist.
