“I can remember all of it,” he says.


“We played Murray Bushrangers at Oakleigh, they had their team of Brett Deledio, Kane Tenace, Ryley Dunn, Dave Mundy, all these guns and they were one of the better under-18 teams that we saw.


“I played on the wing all day against Mundy.”


Who would’ve thought that more than 15 years later, with both players heading into the final year of their contracts, that match-up at Oakleigh has produced 569 AFL games.


“It’s what made you into the players today,” Roughead said.
