Grand prix question mark over Shield final at Junction

Cricket Australia are still determining whether Junction Oval would be available to host the Sheffield Shield final in three weeks should Victoria earn the right to host the decider.
The prospect of Victoria playing in the final, let alone hosting it, had looked highly unlikely at the mid-point of the season, with the Bushrangers winless at the Big Bash League recess.
However, Victoria’s recent run of strong form has catapulted the state back into contention for a fourth straight title.
The Bushrangers temporarily ascended to the top of the Shield standings this week after beating Western Australia in Perth, although the Vics were bumped to second yesterday after Queensland completed a victory over South Australia. But with two rounds remaining Victoria remain in the hunt to secure top spot.
The Shield final begins on March 23, the same weekend as the F1 grand prix at Albert Park, meaning there would be potential issues for access and noise if the shield final were held at the venue. The MCG is not an option due to the opening round of the AFL season.
