A fire caused major structural damage to a house in north-west Belconnen, collapsing part of its roof.

Canberra firefighters were called to the blaze on Nulsen CircuIt in Flynn just after 10pm on Saturday.

The house was well-alight by the time they arrived. Three fire pumpers, a breathing apparatus support vehicle and a commander vehicle attended the fire and their crews put it out within the hour.

ACT Fire Rescue said it believed the house was unoccupied when the blaze broke out. No one was injured.

However, the building suffered significant damage and the roof partially collapsed.

Initial estimates put the damage bill at about $300,000.

Crews remained on the scene on Saturday night after the blaze was out, mopping up and ensuring there were no hotspots.
