A man has died in hospital after falling during an alleged assault and hitting his head on a cement driveway in north-west Queensland earlier in the week.

Before the man’s death, his partner, a 32-year-old Northern Territory woman, had been charged with grievous bodily harm.

She was remanded in custody after appearing in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Thursday.

It would be alleged the 51-year-old man was at his Railway Street residence in Cloncurry about 8.15pm on Tuesday when an argument broke out with his partner.

Police said a physical fight followed and the woman allegedly punched the man in the head, causing him to fall and hit his head on the cement driveway.

He was rushed to Mount Isa Hospital, but passed away on Thursday afternoon.

Investigations are continuing.
