Richmond premiership player Jack Riewoldt impressed football and music fans alike by joining The Killers on stage after the Tigers’ epic grand final win against the Adelaide Crows.

Emotional supporters, buoyed by their first flag in 37 years, roared their applause as Riewoldt sang Mr Brightside. The crowd’s cheers at MCG were deafening before they once again broke into the Tigerland theme song with jubilant shouts of “yellow and black”.

His premiership medal swinging around his neck, Riewoldt’s off-field ability scored points all round.

The Killers later tweeted, “The guy in yellow had a helluva night”.

The post-match concert was just the start to the biggest street party Richmond is likely to have ever seen.

The US band, fronted by Brandon Flowers, also received rave reviews for their pre-grand final set, which started with When You Were Young, a fitting song for many who had waited nearly four decades for this win.
