“That’s a decision we’ll have to make, where he’s best-placed to continue to develop,” Goodwin said.


“He’s played 26 games. He’s evolving. There’s a lot of pressure on him.


“He needs to play a little bit better, but at the same time after 26 games we’ve just got to give the kid time to play, the game, develop, and you’ll see improvement over a period of time.”


Weideman’s form issues come as the key forward remains in the midst of contract negotiations with Melbourne. The management of the out-of-contract youngster are believed to have asked for an extremely generous annual salary for their client.


Responsibility on Weideman and McDonald increased following the departure of Jesse Hogan to Fremantle last October.
