Mr Liu, who has been at Huawei since 1998, tweeted this week that “free, fair, open market competition will improve the efficiency and accelerate the innovation”, commenting on data that Australia’s broadband internet has fallen three places to 62nd on a global ranking.
Huawei’s 2018 annual results lodged with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission showed revenues rose 18 per cent year-on-year to $735 million – the best result for the company in 15 years.
Huawei Australia chairman John Lord said it had become the biggest supplier of Australia’s mobile network infrastructure.
