The former Australian vice captain David Warner has apologised to cricket fans, Australians, the South African cricket team and his family following the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town last Saturday.

“To my team mates and support staff, I apologise for my actions and take full responsibility for my part on day three,” he said.

“I hope in time I can repay all you’ve given me and earn your respect again,” he continued, with the support of his wife Candice who was sitting at the back of the room.

Warner has played 74 Tests, amassing 6363 runs at an average of 48.2.
