A woman is in a critical condition with significant burns after firefighters pulled her from a fierce fire at a unit on Brisbane’s northside overnight.

Emergency services were called to Westacott Street in Nundah about 11pm on Sunday and firefighters reported the unit was “well alight” upon arrival.

A man escaped the burning unit and suffered only minor burns and smoke inhalation. He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.

However, firefighters had to go in and get a woman out and she suffered significant burns. Paramedics rushed her to the RBWH in a critical condition.

Five fire crews battled the flames for 20 minutes before it was extinguished and they stopped the fire from spreading to adjoining units.
