Stop playing, ministers


Our government ministers have had a go at being pretend workers in fluoro vests, pretend farmers in Akubras, pretend sportspeople playing footy in baseball caps, and now pretend intellectuals conducting single-handed peer-review on academically applauded research projects (“Secret umpire denied my winning goal”, October 31). Perhaps it’s time to stop pretending you’re on reality TV and start focusing on the reality of your job, developing excellent policy to make Australia smarter, healthier, safer, more prosperous, and internationally respected. – Rob Baxter, Naremburn
