Cecilia Haddad's mother to testify in Rio

The mother of murdered Brazilian-born Sydney resident Cecilia Haddad is due to give evidence in a Rio de Janeiro court.


Mario Marcelo Ferreira dos Santos Santoro, 40, appeared in court in Rio last month, accused of the murder of the 38-year-old in April before allegedly fleeing to Brazil to avoid arrest.

Her father Jose Ibrahim Haddad Junior has said Cecilia felt frightened because Santoro did not accept the end of their courtship.


Milu Muller, her mother, is expected to give evidence on Wednesday (Thursday Sydney time).


Haddad’s ex-husband will also to testify by video conference from Australia.
