At the last state election, which recorded a massive 18.9 per cent two-party preferred swing away from defeated Liberal MP Tony Simpson, PHON polled just 8.7 per cent of the primary vote.
But Mr Tincknell said he expected the minor party vote to increase in the byelection on the back of dissatisfaction caused by scandals involving former Labor MP Barry Urban.
While he said winning the byelection would be a “long shot” for PHON candidate Rod Caddies, Mr Tincknell said the minor parties would determine the outcome of the election.
“In the last election, the minor parties got close to 30 per cent of the vote,” he said.
