He studied part-time over three years while working, but the degree could have been completed in 12-18 months full time.


‘‘Knowledge is power, and the things I have learnt through tertiary education help me to be the best I can at my job,’’ he says.


At Kiama Public School for nearly six years, and a classroom teacher for more than a decade, Corbyn’s focus has largely been on the upper primary years.


More recently, his career has headed more towards educational leadership, aided by his tertiary studies. Corbyn says he cannot speak highly enough of his time as a postgrad student at the University of Wollongong.


‘‘I enjoyed the ability to reengage with research, connect with mentors, meet other like-minded people, and critique my existing knowledge and practice against current understandings,’’ he says.
