Man found dead in car after midnight on New Year's Day in Mackay

A man has died in a car in the first minutes of 2019 after a fight earlier in the evening in Mackay.


Police found the 20-year-old man on Glenpark Street in North Mackay about 12.30am with an injury to his abdomen and he died at the scene shortly after officers arrived.


A 67-year-old man was taken into custody and questioned on Tuesday morning and detectives allege the victim was involved in a fight at a home nearby earlier in the evening.


Forensic officers searched the car and the home for evidence during the morning and the investigation was ongoing.
