Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says the US should come clean if it is looking for a pretext to destroy rogue state North Korea.

Mr Lavrov on Thursday rejected a US call to cut ties with North Korea in response to the Stalinist regime’s launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

“We see this negatively. We have repeatedly stated that the pressure of sanctions has been exhausted,” Mr Lavrov told journalists in the Belarusian capital Minsk, Russian news agencies reported.

The foreign minister’s comments came as North Korea published a large gallery of photographs of the new intercontinental ballistic missile Hwasong-15 test launch on November 29 under the supervision of the North Korean leader.

State-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun published 42 images on Thursday.

The photos showed the preparation for the launch and the missile during its ascent, in addition to a smiling Kim Jong-un observing the whole process both outdoors and from a control room.

Very “excited” and “satisfied” with the successful development of the new Hwasong-15 (“Mars-15” in English), the North Korean leader “warmly congratulated” the scientists, technicians and other workers involved in the process, Rodong Sinmun reported.
